Department of Transport launch Transport degree

The Department of Transport in Partnership with the University of the North and CSIR shall launch a Transport degree program and in partnership with Tshwane University of Technology launch a Contact Centre Management Learnership on Aviation.
The degree emanates from one of the resolutions of the Limpopo in Motion Transport summit held in September 2003.
The transport curriculum shall be incorporated into the currently existing B. Admin degree in Local Government. The following modules were identified as central: Legal framework for transport, Transport management and safety, Transport Economics, Road infrastructure planning and business management, and so forth.
The learnership program consist of both theory and practice. The learnership is for the duration of nine months. The learners are doing their practicals at Polokwane International Airport, Traffic Control Room, NATIS and the Operating Licensing Office. The objective of the programs is to create a skilled human resource on transport matters.
The MEC for Transport, Mr Stan Motimele shall officially launch the degree program at Polokwane International Airport.
