Documetation required for the issuing of vehicle clearances and SAPVIN numbers

THABAZIMBI- Vehicles in need of a SAPVIN number must be brought to the SAPS, Thabazimbi or to the Vehicle Identification Unit, Modimolle, for a clearance. Each vehicle must be accompanied by an ID book(drivers license not accepted), Vehicle Registration Document(License renewal documents not accepted), proof of purchase for the vehicle or engine and RPC/PRI(available from the local Traffic Department).
If the vehicle isn’t presented by the registered owner, a letter of authorization must accompany the applicant(not applicable to dealers).
The issuing of SAPVIN numbers can be done by appointment only and appointments can be made at the following number: 014 718 1035
