Stolen vehicle returned by SAPS before reported stolen

KOEDOESKOP – A Toyota Land Cruiser driving past a roadblock at high speed alerted the SAPS members at a roadblock and they gave chase. The two occupants of the Land Cruiser abandoned the vehicle on the side of the road not far from the roadblock and they escaped on foot.
The vehicle was inspected and circulated, only to find that it was stolen from Makoppa Kaaldraai. The owner, Mr J Joubert, was informed and a case docket of Theft of motor vehicle was opened and the investigation is continuing.
This incident happened last Friday when a roadblock was conducted at Koedoeskop, next to the BP Garage. The roadblock started at night at about 21:30. Roadblock participants were the SAPS, Local and National Traffic Officers, Nature Conservation personnel and the Task Unit.
Many cars were stopped and searched and in the early hours of Saturday 06/12/2014 at about 03:30
Thabazimbi Station Commander, Lt Col Moseki, requests the community to be patient during these festive season operations, especially during roadblocks, and to cooperate with the police in their effort to fight similar crimes. The message to the criminals is that they have nowhere to hide.
