THABAZIMBI – Thabazimbi was host as a venue for the training of Mayors, Speakers, Chief whips, MPAC chairpersons and chairpersons of portfolio committees of Municipal councillors. Talent Academy was charged with the responsibility of training the above councillors appointed by Coghsta Limpopo.
The course was aimed to capacitate Councillors after an Auditor Generals finding in 2008 on irregular expenditure, caused by financial and leadership deficiency, because most Councillors do not have formal education in Financial Management and they need to empower them with leadership, financial and supply chain capabilities. The course was conducted by and continued throughout different Municipalities.
Not only was it an educational experience but a good opportunity for Councillors and Mayors to interact and share different ideas. The Facilitator would like the course to be an annual process and to keep the information stream flowing and to keep the Councillors updated.
