Parents demand teacher’s dismissal

THABAZIMBI –Angry parents of Grade 7 students picketed outside Ysterberg Primary School last Friday, 23 August 2013 and demanded the dismissal or removal of deputy principal, Pieter Molekoa if he doesn’t resign on his own accord.

“His teaching jeopardises the education of our own children and that is why the parents want him removed,” said SGB (School Governing Body) Chairperson Stephen Mohutsiwa, he also said to Kwêvoël that the parents doesn’t want the deputy principal at their school anymore, because they feel that he has failed them.

Molekoa was the Gr 7 Life Orientation examiner in the first and second term. This exam which was not moderated or assessed as per school policy

“Molekoa teaches Gr 7 students who are going to high school next year. By jeopardises the education of these kids, they won’t be able to cope with next year’s curriculum,” said Mohutsiwa.

On the matter of a substitute teacher for the Gr 7’s, Mohutsiwa said that there are a lot of committed educators at Ysterberg Primary who are willing to give quality education.

He further pointed out that if the department decides that Molekoa must stay, they must personally come and address the parents. “This is a volatile situation now, however it is not only the matter of the results, there is a lot of things transpiring about this man,” said Mohutsiwa.

Circuit Manager, MP Molapisi, as well as representatives from the department of education were present at the gathering. Molapisi promised the parents that the matter will be delt with within a week.
