THABAZIMBI – South Africans commemorate Women’s month in August. The month is marked by Women’s Day on 9 August when in 1956 women from all races and walks of life marched to the Union Buildings in protest against oppressive laws. This year marks the 54th anniversary of the women’s anti-pass march and serves to remind South Africans about women’s rights.
Thabazimbi Municipality would like to announce the following activities that will be unfolding during women’s month within Thabazimbi: Pap smear campaign at Regorogile Extension 2, Women’s Day and First Lady’s (Mme Mokgadi Mathale) Flagship Project-Birthday Celebration at Skilpadnest on 20 August 2010, Motivational Presentation to women and the women’s month will be closed with the Women and Girls sports festival, date and venues to be confirmed. The day will be commemorated under the theme: “Working together we can do more to advance future generations of African women”.
