JABULANI -Thabazimbi Local Municipality, task team has been deployed to co-ordinate the roll-out of relief efforts to about 30 households affected by flooding on Friday, 7 March and Tuesday, 11 March.
Jabulani is one of the informal settlements opposite Dishaba mine on the road to Northam Plats and Sataria.Tents were erected on Friday immediately after the ward councillor reported the matter of severe flooding to the municipality.The Municipality disaster management team is also conducting inspections of all bridges and households along the Crocodile River.
The sluice gates of the Hartbeespoort Dam have been opened last week as a result of heavy rains in Gauteng, causing floods in low-lying areas along the Crocodile River.
The Mayor, together with councillors distributed blankets to the affected families. The Municipality also provided tents to the affected families as temporary relief measures. The Mayor also thanked Coghsta Limpopo for providing blankets to the affected families.
