1 Million shifts for Northam Plats

SETARIA – Northam Platinum achieved the big one, namely one million fatality free shifts on Wednesday 25 July 2007. The mine last had one million fatality free shifts in September 2006. Wednesday 25 July was a very proud achievement for the mine. Just after 12:00 the qualifying shift appeared and the celebrations began. Balloons and streamers decorated the scene while music added luster to the occasion. What makes the achievement so great is that all underground equipment is powered by high pressure water, and that in itself is an achievement. Mine management wants to congratulate and thank every one that is a part of the mine and a part of the winning team. The management also thanks every one for working towards this achievement. It is a privilege to work with people in a winning team who knows how to work together and do it safely. As their motto say “No work is so important that it can not be done safely”. The mine is now looking forward to achieve a two million faulty free shifts.
