I have so often argued with friends on a sport game result, and the argument had to stop when I am told “look at the score, the facts do not lie’, end of discussion. You cannot argue facts
I want to make the same reference to our government and the officials. Whenever questions are asked on bad performance and poor service delivery and self enrichment, then the responsibilities are always shifted to the previous government and or the history or the lack of resources or any other excuse but never to the person that is responsible now!
It is a known fact that in any business or country for that matter, that does not manage their infrastructure and plan ahead on their future, will die a slow death.
No government can create jobs; the government can only create an environment where jobs can be created in. This environment requires a stable financial control, stable political policy [not people that want to keep apartheid alive in order to keep their political manifestos alive – shoot the Boer songs are a perfect example of this] and a sustainable, planned and maintained infrastructure. If you look at Africa, you will see that the entire infrastructure that was provided after colonialism in Africa fell apart, because no planning and maintenance took place. These governments only took out and never put any back in.
I travel a lot on business and it is clear to see that we are heading the same way as the rest of Africa. More money is available than ever before in SA, but less are spend where it should be. Mismanagement, bribery and money waste and egocentric management styles are the order of the day.
Being new to the province and to Thabazimbi it is easy to be objective and see the same principals practiced here. The traffic department is an excellent example. Yes, I am sure there are also people within the department that are hardworking and that do not deserve bad criticism.
But look at the score, it does not lie. All South Africans has the right to be able to obtain a drivers license. The fact that the traffic department in Thabazimbi cannot and will not accommodate people’s right to obtain a license in a fair a reasonable way only points to poor management. It is unthinkable that young people should sleep outside in order just to get an opportunity to get their names on a list to obtain the licenses. I wonder what these officials would do if they had to sleep outside and take months to get the opportunity to get electricity to their houses.
I have a serious request to my fellow South Africans. Please stop voting for racial identity and start to think for yourself. Vote for people that are competent and will not run our fantastic country to ruins!
There is a saying that goes ‘only an idiot does something the same way and expect a different result every time”. Why do we vote for people that obviously have no heart for our country, but only take for themselves and do not provide to South Africans, that what we deserve?
