LEEUPOORT – A team of 15 volunteers from the SAVF office spent 67 minutes of care during the Mandela Day Project on 17 July 2015 at the Raputi squatters’ camp in Leeupoort where 50 children and 73 adults were reached with an outreach project.
The following were distributed: 18 blankets to the elderly, 50 litres of soup, 20 bags of clothes, 50 toys, 220 sweets, 30 oranges to children. Presentations on hygiene, my body and road safety were also presented to all the children. They were also entertained with music by Herman Meyer who played on his cordian. Linda Grobler, co-ordinator of the project, said that it is a pleasure to help and give to people who appreciated it as much as this group. They sang to the group volunteers to say thank you and the children thoroughly enjoyed the presentations and partook in it. Linda thanked all the volunteers for their hard work and giving hearts.
