Johan Smit wins PGA SA Apprentice Championship

CENTURION – Johan Smit is an old Thabazimbiër and matriculated at High School Frikkie Meyer. After he matriculated he went to PGA Golf Management and did his coaching diploma in Centurion Golf Academy and he passed with five distinctions.
Congratulations to our very own Johan Smit who claimed the top spot at this year’s PGA SA Apprentice Championship on Tuesday 26 May 2015. He started off with a steady 74 on the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington East Course and was trailing by 5 shots from Morten Bredahl from Knysna. He got seeded in the second to last group on the final day and he reckons that took big pressure off him. He converted a birdie putt on the 18th to shoot a final round 69 and claim the trophy by one shot.

By winning the PGA SA Apprentice Championship (that was held on 25-26 May), Johan qualified to play in a world event in Australia at the end of this year. We are very proud and looking forward to see more and more titles coming in.
