Blanket boost for Thabang
It all started when a “challenge” arose during Thabang’s registration process. Thabang’s registration by the Department of Social Development as a Child and Youth Care Centre was put on hold in February due to, amongst other things, inadequate mattresses.
A generous local farmer, Marius Coetzee, pledged funds for the mattresses and they were ordered through a local mattress shop. Via the caring manager, Lelani Meyer, of the mattress shop, message got through to Good Morning Angels on Jacaranda FM about the financial plight of Thabang.
Shortly afterwards Thabang Project Manager, Tessa White, was interviewed by the Good Morning Angels team and in no time a substantial amount of money was collected for bedding, crockery and pots. All of these items were in dire need of replacing.
Another “angel”, the Regional Manager of PepCell, Mahomed Peerbhai, heard the radio interview and within a few days Thabang received 100 blankets and several school uniforms and school shoes via Pep Thabazimbi.
White says that what started out as a problem, turned into a windfall for Thabang thanks to the involvement of caring individuals and business people alike. On behalf of Thabang she thanks all for their involvement and contributions.
