THABAZIMBI -To encourage increased public participation, Mayor, Councilor Patricia Mosito, hosted the inaugural IDP Representative Forum on 11 September 2014 at the Northam Platinum Rec Club. The aim of the Forum is to provide a platform for interaction between the Municipality and civil society, and to allow residents, including ward committee members, business and NGO’s, to engage with the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
The IDP is a document which details all the projects which a municipality will undertake in a financial year, and is used as a planning tool to guide prioritisation of projects, budget allocation and implementation plans.
The Mayor presented the plans, the planning process, and the economic overview of the Thabazimbi Local Municipality to the attendees at this meeting, showcasing Thabazimbi‘s strengths, and where the community should be capitalising on opportunities.
In the same meeting, IDP/Budget Representative Forum code of conduct was adopted. The composition of the Forum, terms of reference were also outlined to the attendees. The forum was well attended by councilors, sector departments (National, Provincial and Local) and stakeholders of Thabazimbi at large.
Members of the IDP/Budget Representative Forum were encouraged to hold consultative and feedbacks meetings with the structures and constituencies they represent in order to get their inputs and communicate feedback reports from IDP/Budget Representative Forum for further mandate.
