Marakele National Parks elephants
This elephant bull was recently spotted in Marakele National Park just outside of Thabazimbi. It is common for older elephant bulls to lose their tusks as a result of aggressive behaviour during musth. Musth is a periodic condition in a bull characterized by highly aggressive behaviour and accompanied by a large rise in reproductive hormones. Female elephants do not undergo musth.
South African National Parks has a Wild Card programme which allows you to visit any SAN Park as often as you like. Annual fee applies.
