Mandela Day celebrations – Correctional Services Thabazimbi
THABAZIMBI – The Correctional Services has officially launched their Mandela Day Celebrations at the new Thabazimbi Hospital on Saturday, 13 July 2013. They have declared it Mandela Month and will contribute 67 minutes towards the community but will also serve the community every Saturday where the offenders and parolees will be doing their community service at the Hospital.
Members and their children has voluntary given up their “off time” to participate in this national project. Various tasks were given to the offenders like sweeping parking areas, cleaning gullies around the building and removing rubble that was laying in front of the Emergency entrance.
Me Maria Kgapane, the Head Social Reintegration: Polokwane Management Area, of which Thabazimbi forms part, attended the event.
The event kick-started with a briefing session, conducted by Mr Wimpie de Koker, Head Social Reintegration: Thabazimbi.
Afterwards a information session was held at the community corrections office, where senior members, Me Kgapane and Mr Pholosi addressed the offenders.
The correctional services wishes to thank their donors for their positive attitude towards the event and their contributions, which show that they are key players in the community and the uplifting of it.
The offenders, parolees, volunteers and correctional service men are busy doing their part for the community at the new Thabazimbi Hospital on 13 July as part of their Mandela Month.
