GROENVLEI – The Groenvlei Secondary School’s winter enrichment camp will be hosted from 30 June until 12 July 2013.
This event will bring together all the learners, volunteers, staff members and parents. Three hundred and six learners from some of Thabazimbi Municipality’s secondary and high schools area are spending their holidays developing their skills, identities and aspirations at the career oriented winter schools.
“We are lucky enough to have the support of many volunteers, tutors and facilitators, to help this event run smoothly” said Cllr Rachel Mokwena during her welcome address.
Learners are from Mabogo-pedi, Naletsana, Northam Comprehensive, Frikkie Meyer and the host, Groenvlei School.
Mr Maphwanya (General Manager) and Mrs Julia Madela (District Senior Manager) presented messages of support and motivation from the Department of Education. The DSM encourages the learners to make the right decision at all times.
According to Mayor Patricia Mosito, last years’ Grade 12’s showed improved performance.
“This we did through hard work, as education authorities, schools, educators, principals, communities, Faith-based organisations, business, unions and broader society” she added.
“What gives me even more hope is to see learners here with us with their teachers. This is a very special programme or camp you all will live to remember when you become doctors, teachers, engineers, technicians, Information Communications and Technology (ICT) gurus and top managers in various fields” said Mayor Mosito.
“To the 2013 learners, if you choose a path of righteousness and brighten the corner where you are there would be no reason why you should not make it.” She thanked DSM and the Circuit Managers for their efforts and form making TLM part of the winter enrichment programme 2013. “Working together we can do more to improve the quality of education” concluded the Mayor.
