TLM concludes its IDP

By Joshua Motsomane

THABAZIMBI – The IDP is central to a municipality’s ability to deliver on its mandate. It is recognised as a business plan for the municipality and determines projects that a municipality may or may not undertake. Thus, the IDP formulation process is required to be a transparent and inclusive one and the content of the IDP must be representative of the needs and aspirations of all interest groups in the ward.

An IDP representative forum is one of the vehicles utilised to promote inclusivity and transparency during the IDP process. This forum should be inclusive of all stakeholders in the ward and should serve as a platform for stakeholders to advance and defend the inclusion of their interests in the IDP.

On Sunday, 28 April 2013, community participation meeting was held at Dwaalboom sports ground. The Mayor, Cllr Patricia Mosito presented feedback to the community in as far as their grievances were in the past session. Community were also allowed to raise other challenges faced. This meeting was followed by the IDP Rep Forum held on Tuesday, 30 April 2013 at Marakele EE Centre.

The Mayor presented to stakeholders the draft IDP/Budget 2013/14. All processes were outlined in the presentation. Stakeholders were given time to raise more issues and inputs for the final document. The proposed tariffs and projects were also presented to all to comment. Comments will be anticipated and where there is need to engage, particular group meetings will be arranged for more clarification.
