TBZ Community Development Forum launched school

THABAZIMBI – Thabazimbi Community Development Forum launched a Historical disadvantage primary school on Tuesday 4 December 2012 followed by a gala evening later that day.

Ysterberg was the first primary school to be built in this community during the mid 1980`s and during that time it was only accommodating learners of parents who were working in these mining industries. The school is at the vicinity of town and township which make it easier for learners to walk to and from the school.  It caters for learners from all backgrounds; it has an enrolment of 1178 learners with 27 classrooms and 34 teachers. The school has absorbed 77 learners from other schools during clustering process.

The Project came about in 2010 through the School SGB .The request was for extension with 6 classroom and a computer centre and ablution facilities for both girls and boys.

The aim of the project is to improve learner’s results by reducing the number of learners per classroom, and giving them required attention, to have classroom ratio of 1:35 learners per classroom and be able to accommodate those learners who are left out every year, to create a conducive learning and working environment for both learners and teachers and to accommodate grade R learners and grade 3 learners as they are now housed outside the school premises. The value of the project is estimated at about R 3 487 024.
