NORTHAM – The Office of the Public Protector in Limpopo embarked on the National Good Governance Week Programme (PPGGW) which started on 15 to 20 October 2012.
This is an initiative to assist the Public Protector to live up to its Constitutional mandate and to promote good governance and integrity in all state affairs. Through Public Protector’s Good Governance Week, the Public Protector aims to increase public awareness about its existence, where it can be accessed, and share its mandate and services with the public.
Public Protector Officials were all out to render services of the Public Protector to the public. Areas visited on the 15th were Thohoyandou Taxi Rank and Polokwane Taxi Rank, while on the 16th and 17th October 2012 unannounced visits were conducted in Capricorn District at Polokwane Local Municipality, the Provincial Hospital in Polokwane, the Provincial Clinic (Rethabile Clinic), Department of Home Affairs and SASSA.
On the 18th October an Outreach activity was conduct at Rama Secondary school in Greater Letaba Local Municipality under Mopani District where officials from Public Protector’s office managed to disseminate information to the grade 11 and 12 learners and educators who were very happy to receive important information from Public Protector’s Office.
On the 18th October 2012, a workshop with Government officials was conducted at Polokwane Royal Hotel and an Outreach activity was conducted at Mamone Tribal Authority in Sekhukhune where the Office met with the community and the Royal family. Other officials were in Letaba FET College in Giyani where they met with the staff and management. The officials could not meet learners due to exams which were on course during their visit.
On Thursday the 19th October 2012, officials were deployed to the shopping malls such as Matoks Shopping Complex in Molemole Local Municipality (Capricorn) and Modimolle Shopping Complex in Modimole Local Municipality (Waterberg District)
An exhibition was conducted in Tzaneen Mall in Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality (Mopani District) on the 20th October 2012.
Office of the Public Protector joined Government Communications and information Systems on the 25th October 2012 in disseminating information at Northam Taxi Rank.
