IPELEGENG – The senior citizens in the Thabazimbi, Ipelegeng and Regorogile area, formed a social group called Itsoseng Batsofe, meaning “active elders”.

They gather on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Regorogile Sports grounds as well as Ipelegeng Hall, to practise singing and to interact with each other.

Kwêvoël visited them at Ipelegeng Hall on Thursday 24 May after an invite by their chairperson, mr Lawrence Nkumise.

They practiced their beautiful songs “Ke batsofe” and “ Ngwana yo sa Ileng” for the district competition to be held later this year and showed off their knitting and creative talents with knit work and mosaic articles.

The group was formed on 18 January 2011 and consists of 40 active members. Their aim is to practise cultural singing for the district competition and to make articles like knit work and mosaic to be sold at the end of the year.

Anyone who would like to join their group or make donations in the form of wool or materials, kindly contact Lawrence Nkumise on 082 862 8334.
