SAPS Thabazimbi against violence

A door-to-door campaign was conducted as part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

THABAZIMBI – Members from SAPS Thabazimbi, representatives from the Community Policing Forum, Bokamoso Victim Empowerment Volunteers, Department of Social Development and various local churches, conducted a door-to-door campaign on Tuesday 29 November 2011 in Matikiring, an informal settlement in Regorogile.

This door-to-door campaign is part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, where the main focuses were the prevention of Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Substance Abuse.

Pamphlets about Sexual Abuse and Children’s Rights were also distributed and the emergency numbers for the SAPS were communicated to the 270 community members at these house holds that were visited.

The community gave positive feedback to the SAPS and raised their concerns about problems they experienced, but overall appreciation was expressed by the community members for the hard work the SAPS is doing.
