9 killed in bus accident

The unrecognizable taxi wreck in which nine people died.

NORTHAM – Tragedy striked on Thursday 22 September at about 14:15 when a Vaal Maseru bus collided with an oncoming taxi.

Nine people lost their lives and five other passengers were seriously injured and rushed to hospital.

According to Northam Police Department, the driver, an African male, mr Rafani WZ (27), overtook on the barrier line and collided head on with the oncoming taxi. He was arrested for culpable homicide. The suspect appeared in court on 26 September 2011, but the case was postponed until 3 October 2011 for bail application.
