Solution for Leeupoort’s fire truck crisis

LEEUPOORT – The fire engine of Leeupoort, dated from early 1900’s will be replaced with the Thabazimbi Fire Departments’ truck as soon as they receive their new truck.

This solution came after complaints were received from Leeupoort community about the fire truck which could not assist in a fire earlier this year. The fire engine will be stationed at Rooiberg and will also service the Leeupoort area in case of a fire.

“Our future plan is also to request additional fire fighting staff in 2011/2012 financial year”, said mr Johnny Motaung, head of safety and traffic at the Thabazimbi Municipality in response to the complaint published in Die Kwêvoël of Friday 1 April 2011.
