ANC banks on Medupi for job creation target

The African National Congress (ANC), during its Provincial Lekgotla held over the weekend, discussed taking advantage of the multi billion rand Medupi Power Station in Lephalale to meet its job opportunities target.

The Lekgotla also identified and scrutinised the strategic pillar of the Limpopo’s Economic Growth and Development Plan which include among others mining and mineral beneficiation, tourism, sport, arts and culture and heritage, socio economic infrastructure, transport, freight and logistics, coal and petro- chemical.

Provincial Chairperson Cassel Mathale also highlighted the state of the organisation and called for tightened measures to strengthen it while National Executive Member deployee in the gathering and ANC Chief Whip in parliament, Mathole Motshekga called for the province to take advantage of the rich natural resources available.

Mathale further said the ruling party had no other option but to again win the upcoming local government elections and called upon party deployees in government to implement the electoral mandate as outlined in the 2009 manifesto.

”In implementing the electoral mandate, we need to strengthen and build capacity on departments to discharge their mandates. The ANC will take keen interest on monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of policy by cadres deployed in government,” the party said in a media statement about the event.
