Fatality at Kumba Mine

THABAZIMBI – Kumba Iron Ore regrets to announce that a contractor was fatally injured in an incident at the Company’s Thabazimbi Mine at Thabazimbi in Limpopo.

The accident occurred on Monday, 1 November 2010, regrettably, the injured driver passed away on Thursday, 4 November 2010.

The Department of Mineral Resources has been notified and an investigation into the circumstances and cause of the incident is underway.

The names of those involved will only be released once their next of kin have been informed. Kumba expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
