SWARTKLIP – Seventy six children between the ages of 3 and 6 years as well as three staff members from Platinum Kidz Academy participated in the Carpe Diem Eisteddfod 2010 on 1 September 2010.
This event took place at Platinum Kidz Academy in Swartklip with the Eisteddfod judge, Elize Smit all the way from Heidelberg, Mpumalanga.
The children participated in the following categories, Singing, Formal Recitation and Arts. A very high standard was set by the children and the school and parents were extremely proud of their achievements. All the children showed great enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed their moment in the limelight.
It was not only the children who did very well but also the principal Julandi van den Heever and two staff members, Thembi Cele and Josephine Mpete who showed off their singing talent and were all awarded with an A+ certificate. A special mention must be made of Debbie van den Heever, a Grade R teacher at the school, who represented South Africa in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, America.
