AMANDELBULT – The Dorian Emmett Charity golf Challenge was hosted a couple of weeks ago by Amandelbult Golfing Club. This year Swartklip (98) walked away with the Challenge trophy with Amandelbult(97) in second and Corporate (92) in third place respectively.

Since it’s inception in 2004, this challenge was played six times of which Swartklip won four.

The competition was initiated by Francois Uys and Dorian Emmett in 2004. It was started as a triangular tournament between Amandelbult, Swartklip and Corporate Office and the initial purpose was to build a closer friendship between the mines and Corporate Office.

The 2010 game was held at Amandelbult. The venue is rotated between Amandelbult and Swartklip every year. The main objective of the tournament has been to raise funds for the local communities in the area.

This year’s event was organized by the Thusano Community Forum. The R50 000 that was raised will be used to buy tables and chairs, educational toys and setting up of proper playground facilities for the Rethabile Nursery school in Regorogile. The official re-opening of the nursery school will be late in June or early in July.

The Thusano Community Forum was previously known as the Amandelbult Ladies Forum. The aim of this charity is to raise funds to be used for the uplifting of local communities and to make a difference in people’s lives.
