Media statement SAP Modimolle – Internet Fraud

Job seeking individuals are warned to be wary of a scam which is busy defrauding unsuspecting victims of their hard earned money through the internet scam. The scam in question is operating as follow: Jobs are advertised on the internet for individuals, who are interested and desperate for employment. Normally such jobs are advertised outside the country and prospective applicants are urged to send their curriculum vitae.

Once the applicant has sent out his or her cv suddenly the applicant receives a response which indicates that the applicant is successful. Then they notify the applicant that there will be a process, which needs to be followed for him or her to be registered and properly employed, your bank accounts, visas and other related matters to be sorted out. Eventually you will be requested to deposit an ex amount of money for the whole process to be finalised. In the one case, the victim was tricked into paying about R30 000. The SAP, Modimolle are currently investigating three cases of similar or related nature. People are warned that it is very important to confirm the authenticity of business or whatever entity before committing yourself into any situation where you will end up losing all your hard earned money.
