Numerous robberies in Koedoeskop during festive season

KOEDOESKOP – On 7 January 2010 at about 11:45 an armed robbery occurred at Koedoeskop General Dealers in Koedoeskop. Two (2) suspects, armed with a pistol and knife, entered the business, pointed the owner and demanded cash and cigarettes. The suspects took the items and fled on foot.

The local farmers from Koedoeskop assisted the SAPS with air and road support and one of the suspects was apprehended with an undisclosed amount of cash in his possession. The other suspect was still at large. While still in pursuit of the suspects, a bag containing some of the stolen items was recovered in the bushes which were used by the suspects for hiding. Later that evening, a local resident contacted the SAPS with
information that the other suspect was in the area. The police responded immediately and the information was followed up. This wanted suspect was also apprehended and an undisclosed amount of cash, as well as cellphone vouchers were also found in his possession. Both suspects are from Moruleng village, close to Mogwase in the North West Province. A case of armed robbery was opened and is being investigated by SAPS
Thabazimbi. The investigation revealed other cases pending from Mogwase against these suspects. The suspects will appear in court on 18 February 2010.

The festive season brought with it numerous other robberies in Koedoeskop. According to sources, two separate robberies took place at  Koedoeskop Bottle Store and a Mini-Supermarket on 4 December and 22 December 2009. Another robbery took place at Marula Bottlestore on Saturday 9 January 2010. No further information about these robberies were given by the SAPS at time of press.
