THABAZIMBI – On 7 August 2009 the Kumba ladies celebrated their day by giving back to the young and old.
One group of employees put on their overalls to brighten up Thabang Place of Safety; they painted the main gate in bright colours, sanded down and varnished tables, and painted the wall at the main entrance on the Rustenburg road.
Another group assisted the feeding scheme teams at the Istores, Ysterberg and Deo-Gloria Primary schools in Thabazimbi to prepare food and dish up. They also handed out water bottles filled with sweets, chocolates and soup packets.
A third group presented the Tambotie Medical Centre with a food processor and mixer and spent some time with the elderly. They also handed out chocolates to patients at the local hospital that were involved in the bus accident the previous day. A donation of groceries was made to Diakonia Centre, a charity that supplies needy children with one meal a day. The ladies also handed out toiletries to Helpende Hande, an organisation that looks after the terminally ill and cancer victims.
Yet another group visited the Sonskyn and Bosveld old age homes to donate care packages to the residents. The packages included biscuits, dried fruit, juice, and cookies.
