THABAZIMBI – The winners of the different sections of the Paragliding Championships which started on the Easter Weekend received their prizes during a ceremony held on Saturday 18 April at Thaba Nkwe.
It was a week of dedicated flying with conditions that was not always favorable, with little wind and lack of thermals. The flyers still had good flights and enjoyed flying in the Bushveld. Thabazimbi is also on their annual list as one of three national championship venues.
Kumba Thabazimbi and Volvo were the main sponsors. Kumba plays a big role in this competition as flyers use the mine facilities to reach the launching site at the top of the mine.
