SETARIA – A get-together of motorcycle riders in rememberance of the late Mr Hendrik Oosthuizen was held on Tuesday 31 March at Setaria.
On the 7th of March 2009 at approximately 21:10, Mr Hendrik Oosthuizen was on his motorcycle and was travelling towards the Mine lapa to fetch his father when the right shock absorber of his motorcycle collapsed. He lost control of the motorcycle and he struck a concrete block next to the road that houses the water services to and from the Setaria Village. Mr Hendrik Oosthuizen was declared deceased on the scene by paramedics from the 911 division.
Mr Hendrik Oosthuizen was born on 27 June 1985 in Witbank where he also attended school. He completed standard 6 and 7 in Frikkie Meyer High School and completed his apprenticeship in Lephalale in 2007. Mr Oosthuizen was a Boilermaker on Northam Platinum Mine and was employed at the Salvage Yard of the Mine at the time of the accident.
Mr Oosthuizen was the son of mr and mrs Theuns Oosthuizen of Setaria and was married to Natasha, daughter of mr and mrs Robert Trotsky. Mrs Oosthuizen is currently expecting their first baby, a boy, which is to be born on the 4th of May 2009.
