Information helps prevent crime
THABAZIMBI – By supplying information to the Thabazimbi police a crime was prevented and two criminals arrested on Friday 13 February.
A reliable source supplied information of an intended robbery at Monyamane Lodge to the police’s Intelligence Unit, responsible for information gathering, on Friday 13 February. This information, along with the swift and rapid reaction of Thabazimbi SAPS prevented what was to be an armed robbery on the farm Haakdoringdrift of Frans Lourens, who was away in Pretoria for the day.
The intended robbery was to be committed from anytime after 15:00. The police kept a low profile observing the house and access road. The suspects were arrested later that day on the Northam Platinum – Thabazimbi tar road. A firearm was also recovered.
Two suspects were detained and a case of attempted house robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm were opened. Investigation is still on and two suspects are still in detention.
