Locals can speak their minds at IDP meeting

THABAZIMBI – It is vitally important that residents attend the forthcoming IDP meeting on Tuesday, says Ratepayer’s Association chairman Gert Snyman.
This is their chance to make themselves heard by the council and to show their involvement and participation in local matters. Solid representation will give this group a voice which cannot be ignored.
He added that it was not only important for home owners to attend and join representative bodies such as the Ratepayers’ Association, but also lessees.
In flyers distributed by the municipality to residents all farmers and residents of Thabazimbi are invited to attend an IDP meeting which will be held on Tuesday 3 February at 17:30 at the Trollope Hall. A previous meeting on 19 January was cancelled due to lack of interest when only about 8 people attended.
IDP meetings were held in January at Smashblock, Northam, Regorogile and Rooiberg. On 8 February the last IDP meeting will be held at Rooibokkraal.
IDP (Integrated Development Program) meetings are held in accordance with the law, which prescribes public participation. Matters which will be discussed include capital investments by the municipality which will have bearing on the 2009/10 municipal budget. However, not only financial matters, but also complaints about services, Thabazimbi’s water situation and other matters can be addressed.
