Kumba appoints new GM for Thabazimbi Mine
THABAZIMBI – Emmy Leeka, Kumba’s Head of Strategic Affairs has been appointed General Manager, Thabazimbi Mine, with effect from 1 August 2008.
Emmy holds a B.Sc. Engineering Metallurgy and Materials (Mineral Processing) from Wits University, and a post-graduate qualification in business administration from De Montfort University. In the course of his years with Kumba and BHP-Billiton, he also undertook various management positions as Project Manager for the Sishen South Project, Mine Manager at Mooiplaas and Process Engineer at Alusaf Hillside.
He is passionate about social development issues and looks forward to the new challenges at Thabazimbi Mine.
Emmy is married to Ipupa and has two boys Naledi (14) and Lesedi (12).
