Zaba All Stars promoted
THABAZIMBI – During the play-offs in March the Zaba All Stars Football Club was promoted from the Thabazimbi League to the Castle Lite League by beating Mogalakwena 1 – 0.
Being promoted means playing against teams from Modimolle, Bela-Bela, Mokopane and Lephalale. Practises for the current season have started and the first games will be played during the first week in August.
Practises are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 18:00 and 20:00 at the Ipelegeng Sports Ground. They are keen to get new blood in the team, says club president Daniel Zaba. Prospective players must submit CV’s to club president, Daniel Zaba, before joining. Interested players can contact Zaba at 078 156 2014.
The Zaba Football Club (FC) has undergone restructuring to ensure that the club functions well. The team name has been registered and provisionally approved. For this a CK7 certificate was issued. The club has also drawn up a constitution and a business plan and appointed a committee, consisting of president, Daniel Zaba, chairperson, Chicken Madira, secretary, Nicodimus, treasurer, Sarah Semenga, spokesperson, Regarn Mabunda and marketing manager Jerry Malatji.
In its business plan Zaba FC has emphasised the need for fundraising to address needs such as transport (the games are much further away this season), coaches, training equipment and a first aid kit.
So far they have had sponsorships from Kumba Iron Ore and dr Mathebula for which they are very grateful, Zaba says, but additional funds are needed.
