Fun run for Women in Dialogue

THABAZIMBI – A noticeable excitement filled the air at Marakele Gates last Saturday when 40 athletes gathered for the fun run and walk to Thabazimbi. Six kilometers down the road to Thabazimbi, those who wanted to participate but did not have the stamina to run this distance, waited for the start. The destination in both cases was Thabapark, the sport complex in Thabazimbi. Both the fit and lame, fat and thin, old and young participated. Everything was done in a good spirit. Someone even turned up in his slippers. The eldest participant was 55 and the youngest eleven. The fun run was organized by the South African Woman in Dialogue organization. The wife of Thabazimbi’s first citizen, Debra Matlou is the chairman. This fun run is presented as part of the effort to accumulate funds that will be used in aid of terminal ill persons, especially HIV / Aids patients as well as persons with other cronic ailments. This event was a first for this organization and they were encouraged by the turnout of a total of 84 participants. For an entry fee of only R20, every participants received a T-shirt as well as a cap, sponsored by Anglo Platinum. The winners received cash prizes as well as medals.
