Thaba represented Harley Davidson in Portugal
THABAZIMBI – Two persons from Thabazimbi, Tony Anderson and Wiela Botha, were recently elected to represent the Harley Owners Group, Pretoria Chapter at the Primary Officer Training course at the Algarve in Portugal. Other South Africans decided at the last moment to join them on the course. They were from Pretoria and Mphumalanga Chapters.
Tony Anderson is the North West Chapter Vice Director, which is a sub-chapter of the Pretoria chapter of HOG and Wiela Botha is the Road Captain of the North West Chapter responsible for all safety, marshalling of mass rides, pre-inspecting routes et cetera.
As the course was for 3 days, they decided to make a decent holiday of the trip. Tony visited his daughter, Angela, who is married and lives in London. Wiela visited his cousin Stephanie who also lives in London. After a brief visit they flew over to Munich in Germany, where friends they made whilst the German family visited South Africa and stayed at Thaba Nkwe, took them to Westerndorf in Austria. Wiela Botha had never seen snow. It was snowing on their arrival, and snowed day and night during their entire stay in Austria, Germany.
Tony had learnt to ski years ago when he lived and worked in Germany and had skied on several visits to Germany. Wiela astounded all by doing many trips on the beginners slope without falling once. True South African “vas byt”. They both became extremely fond of the German Weissbier, which we have, on good authority that they consumed many litres thereof.
After skiing, the two flew over to Lisbon in Portugal where they hired a car and drove the scenic route to the Algarve. The course was very professionally presented by HOG Europe management. After the course, Tony and Wiela spent an additional week touring the Algarve, before returning home to Thabazimbi via London.
