Steady progress of Thabazimbi Promotional League

Elias Malindi

THABAZIMBI – The newly established Thabazimbi Soccer Promotional League is well received by soccer clubs and two League games were played this past weekend. The Eleven Killers football Club played against the School of Excellence football Club (Koedoeskop). School of Excellence won the game 3-2.
The game between the Sea Rovers and Samdoria from Northam Platinum, resulted in a score of 2-2. The Promotional League will be sending their executive members to stand for the SAFA Regional Committee elections at Ellisras on 20 March, as the term of the present committee has come to an end.
The league has expressed some of their demands to the Youth Council. This includes a demand that the Municipality should budget money for them every year. They want the mayor to create a cup for them whereby all the teams will be able to play for it at the end of every year.
“The municipality has been assisting the league by upgrading the stadium in Regorogile, improved toilets, fencing and also connected a tap for water. But all these things are not enough because we don’t have a lawn and no lights. The lights will make it possible for us to play games after hours during the week” said Marcus Matshe.
The League is urging every team to send three players who are under 23 in order to formulate a Thabazimbi squad. This squad will travel to Polokwane on 2 and 3 April to play with all different regions and districts from the province.
National squad coaches, Stuart Baxter and Steve Khompela, will be there to select the best players from the province. This process will take place in all nine provinces whereby at the end a fully fledged under 23 South African squad will be formulated to play in the next Olympics.
Thabazimbi Promotional League is thanking all those who took an initiative of enquiring on the previous publication about them searching for sponsorship. The league is still inviting all parties that are interested in assisting in building the community to contact Mr Isaac Masepe (treasery) at 083 332 8104 or Marcus Matshe (secretary) on 082 591 5067.
