THABAZIMBI – The Thabazimbi Local Municipality in Limpopo is still consolidating the overall amounts it owes to Eskom and other service providers, which led to its current financial crisis.
The municipality has been placed under administration by the provincial government, following reports of the mismanagement of funds.
Mayor Patricia Mosito says the municipality also failed to properly bill mines operating in the area, causing it to lose revenue.
“For now, I cannot say it is so many millions because we have got Eskom whereby we owe a lot of money. We have got Magalies Water Board – those bulk services and then we have got those service providers, so there are still steps that are being taken in order for us to be able to disclose.”
