Warmer winter for Spitskop Special Needs School

THABAZIMBI – Nedbank’s nationwide Winter Campaign moved to Limpopo on 17 June, where Nedbank donated blankets to the Spitskop Special Needs School in Thabazimbi, the only school of its kind in the province to provide care to children diagnosed with Autism, Down’s syndrome, Epilepsy, Brain Damage and other problems that affect normal development. Nedbank launched this winter campaign in Johannesburg on 3 June, the campaign will move to every province in South Africa over the next few weeks, delivering blankets to vulnerable children and senior citizens.
Thabazimbi Local Municipality and Thobela FM partnered with Nedbank during the winter campaign.
The Special Needs School caters 25 children from needy families with special needs. Speaking at the Limpopo launch, Loderick Lubisi, Area Manager Nedbank Foundation, said Nedbank has invested R3.2 million into the campaign over the five years of its existence, which translates into 16 500 blankets donated to close to 36 000 people. In Thabazimbi Spitskop Special Needs School was donated with 200 blankets.
Mayor Patricia Mosito of Thabazimbi Local Municipality said that the school will be looked after. She further indicated the Department of Education will be engaged and provide any necessary assistance to the school. The Mayor also thanked Nedbank and Thobela FM for their good gesture.
In the past, the Nedbank Winter Campaign has received amazing support from Nedbank employees and partners clients and ordinary South Africans across the country. The bank hopes to make the 2014 edition an even greater success.
