THABAZIMBI – A passer-by who heard a baby crying in the bush, lead to the discovery of an abandoned baby girl.
The discovery was made on Saturday afternoon, 31 May at about 16:00 in the bush on Station Road next to the Municipality Technical Services premises.
The baby was found wrapped in a baby blanket and a pink towel and she was unharmed.
The police was informed and she was taken to Thabazimbi hospital for observation and was placed under the care of the hospital Social Worker, Mrs Pretorius. The case was handed to the Dept of Social Development for a permanent place of safety. The baby is estimated to be plus minus two to three months old.
A case docket of Child Neglect has been opened by the Thabazimbi SAPS and is investigated by the Family Violence-Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit (FCS).
