SMASHBLOCK/DWAALBOOM – A by-election, to fill the vacancy left by deceased councillor Anna Makola, will be held in Ward 3 on Wednesday 9 December.

Dikeme Pilane of Thabazimbi’s IEC (Independent Electoral Commission) office has advised voters to vote only at the specific registration station where they are registered. Voters cannot vote at any voting station in the ward. Voting will take place between 07:00 and 21:00.

The voting stations are Zwartkop School in Smashblock, Dwaalboom Laerskool, Mogotlho Primary School, Dwaalboom Noord-Brabant School and Welgemoed Farm.

The two candidates are Selomo Radikgwega (ANC) and Steven Lerumo (Independent candidate). A public debate will be held on Tuesday 8 December at Zwartkop School in Smashblock at 17:00. Both candidates will have the opportunity to discuss their manifestos during the debate.
